5 Fun Fall Activities for You & Your Dog

5 Fun Fall Activities for You & Your Dog

Autumn is here and it’s time to enjoy the season with your dog! From pumpkin carving to teaching your best friend tricks they haven’t learned yet, you will have plenty of fall time activities to keep you and your pup busy!

1. Visit the Pumpkin Patch

A trip to the pumpkin patch or apple orchard with the family is always a lot of fun, but why not bring along your dog too? Be sure to check with your local pumpkin patch, but most are dog friendly. Just remember to keep your dog leashed and let them sniff out the perfect pumpkin to bring home!

2. Carve Pumpkins

Now that you’ve picked out your perfect pumpkin from the thousands at the patch, it’s time to start carving. Whether your dog watches you carve your favorite design on your jack-o-lantern this year or joins in on the action and helps, check out these Better Homes and Gardens free pumpkin-carving stencils of favorite dog breeds.

3. Make Pumpkin Dog Cookies

A common theme this fall seems to be: Pumpkin Spice Flavored Everything! You may love sipping on that Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte, making a fresh Pumpkin Pie, or even lighting pumpkin flavored candles around the house. Your best friend can join in on the fun with NEW Bil-Jac Pumpkin Pie Flavored Dessert Jacs, available for a limited time at PetSmart! Or take it up a notch and make these fun and soft pumpkin dog cookies using Bil-Jac Dessert Jacs. The recipe is simple and easy!

4. Fun Fall Photoshoot

One of the most beautiful outdoor sites is when the leaves change from green to yellow, red, and orange. What better backdrop to take photos of your dog in front of than a beautiful bright colored pile of leaves? Start by raking a pile and playing with your dog in the leaves. Once they start jumping around, grab your cell phone or camera and tell your best friend to “say cheese." Before you know it, the kids will be jumping around with your dog in the leaves and you can turn this into a quick family photoshoot.

5. Tricks-FOR-Treats

This Halloween, don’t make your best friend choose Trick-OR-Treat, instead just do Tricks-FOR-Treats! We all know that feeling of excitement and satisfaction we get when we teach our dogs a new trick. Whether you teach them how to be better behaved (sit, lay down, stay, off) or how to make your friends smile (shake hands, roll over, give a kiss), teaching your dog new behaviors can be very helpful and rewarding for both of you. Here’s two to try:
